The subscription consists of 1 book per month but subscribers can purchase up to two additional books each month for just $12.99 each!

For November, Subscribers had till the 6th to choose one of these great titles below:

book of the month

  • Barbara the Slut and Other People by Lauren Homes Retail $20.48
  • Home is Burning: A Memoir by Dan Marshall Retail $15.39
  • So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed by Jon Ronson Retail $18.88
  • The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley Retail $18.30
  • The Witches: Salem 1692 by Stacy Schiff Retail $17.60

For November 2015 I Selected The Witches Salem, 1692 by Stacy Schiff, let’s check out my selection!

I received this month’s Book of the Month selection courtesy of Book of the Month for the purpose of this review.

The Witches Salem, 1692 by Stacy Schiff $17.60

Although this was on the cheaper side of the book selection options for the month, I chose this month’s book based on more than just monetary value. The Pulitzer Prize-winning author Stacy Schiff also wrote Cleopatra, a #1 national bestseller, in which she deems this mystery novel as an historical reference guide to the Salem Witch Trials.

Inside the airtight packaging is a note card from the Book Club Judge for this month’s selection. Each book has a selected/featured judge that handpicks the selections based on their personal tastes. For this selection, Judge Patrick Bass (Essence Magazine) states this selection “introduces him to more characters than a Robert Altman Film”.

The book is available as both a paperback and hardback, but the club sends the hardback books. There is just something nostalgic about a hardback book!

I love the detailed theme that is hidden throughout.

The visual cues hidden within assist with adding a psychologically thrilling historical attribute to THE WITCHES. Of course, the Book of the Month Club supplies a bookmark within the pages of your new read!

Part of the perks of the Book of the Month membership is the Discussion forum! Here the subscribers are given priority access to the forum to share their thoughts on their latest book selection. November’s Discussion will open when all November shipments are received! However, subscriber’s can go ahead and submit their review or discussion under the section marked “All Other Books”.

I can’t wait to crack this book open and get started!

All-in-all, I feel this book club offers the subscriber the thrill of new book choices every month with the satisfaction of gathering with other like-minded readers for a low monthly cost ($16.99). My selection was on the low end of the retail pricing, but other books ranged well over $20! For $16.99 a month, I think that the value is fantastic! If you haven’t signed up for Book of the Month yet, this is a great time to start!

What Book of the Month Selection will you pick this month?
